Can We Really Fight Obesity?

As obesity and overweight grows, there is an increasing need for a solution.
For example, did you know that the total excess cost related to obesity and overweight in teenagers has reached an estimated of $254 billion U.S. dollars?
Even if we like it or not, most of the modern diet is based on processed and chemically altered foods that causes imbalances, changing us on the inside and the outside.
Some of them are:
  • Beverages containing artificial sweeteners
  • High fructose corn syrup
  • Hydrogenated and trans fat vegetable oils
  • White breads and pastas
  • Refined salt
  • Monosodium glutamate (MSG)
  • Carrageenan (an additive)
The reality is that most of our junk food cravings could come from low blood sugar levels or some other nutritional deficiency.
I used to weigh 220 pounds and know exactly what I'm talking about. I used to have cravings all the time.
Sometimes, you can feel others staring at you thinking you're just too lazy to do anything about your weight. But that is a common misconception.
If you do a common search for this problem on the internet, you'll find that a common answer is:
"Well, just eat fewer calories and exercise more!"
"Well", that is just what they have told us to do, and the health industry has not helped much.
Of course, a balanced diet and exercise is important to our health. But the real question is how to really help people with their weight challenges.
Just telling someone to count calories and do more exercise will not help them. They need to understand the underlying factors.
If this wasn't true, take a look at the following statistics from the online magazine The Star:
For example, based on a study from the United Nations Statistics Division 2012, in Asia, Malaysia had the highest percentage of obese people.
The Facts:
  • Malaysians 19.5 %
  • Thailand 9.1%
  • Brunei 7.9%
  • Singapore 6.4%
  • The Philippines 6.1%
  • Indonesia 4.8%
  • Myanmar 4.1%
  • Laos 3.5%
  • Cambodia 2.2%
  • Vietnam 1.5%
Do the numbers tell you something?
The fact is that overweight obeys many factors and we don't want just to simplify the problem. If we want to help people with overweight or obesity, we have to understand the underlying factors.
Some of those could be related to past traumas, certain types of stress, food choices, chemical and hormonal imbalances, etc.
It's like solving a puzzle, you have to see the big picture to solve the real problem.
Before 2011 Alexander Palmer used to weigh 220 lbs. In 2011 he made the decision to make a change. He lost more than 50 lbs in 6 months without dieting. Instead he educated himself on how to eat properly. Would you like to know more? Get your Free Report at: how to fight obesity
